The Ambassador of Algeria in Canada and the Consul General of Algeria in Montreal, attended the socio-cultural and economic promotion day held on 11 October 2008 in the Jean Talon Street in Montreal by the "Petit Maghreb" association chaired by Mr. Malik Hadid. This initiative supported by the City of Villeray-Saint Michel was a great popular success and allowed to highlight the contribution of the Maghreb community to the extraordinary cultural mosaic of the metropolitan Montreal. Many elected members at the municipal, provincial and federal levels marked their presence along with diplomats from North African countries and representatives of associations and community media.
